Crisis in City Center
Kids in Crisis at City Center

In the spring of 2015 life was interrupted for hundreds of boys who call this downtown Port au Prince center ‘home’. Emmanuel has followed the boys that come to this home since the days when he attended school on this campus. He started receiving calls and emails from friends concerned for the boys’ situation. It was a crisis. Once, living in the safety of this facility, they now suddenly find themselves without food, clothes, or caretakers.
While the reason for this is complicated – they are essentially secondary victims of the Dominican-Haitian refugee crisis because of diverted funds to the crisis at the DR border – the need is simple. Food. Clean beds. Clean clothes. Caretakers. As soon as possible, Emmanuel went down to ensure they had food and to start finding beds for them. We are working to secure a food supply for future months and to help sort out a long term solution for their well-being as there is no answer yet as to how long this situation may continue.
