Projects

From time to time, as life in Haiti changes, we also support urgent but hopefully temporary needs.

Current projects :

Remonte  :  (new project) reusing bikes to build skills and economy in a mountain community.

Ladies First:  Our new microfinance program to invest in the women who have mothered the many youth living on their own in this community.

Life Skills 101A program aimed at getting youth into productive work as young adults and on the road to a better life.  One by one we are working to complete each youth’s official documentation such as birth certificate and identity cards.   This allows the youth to a open bank account and get a driver’s license.   The program also works with community Haitian partners to train the youth in particular job skills or apprenticeships to help them enter the workforce and move toward a healthier, better life than the one they have now.

Previous urgent need we worked to meet:

Crisis at City Centre: left with no mattresses for their beds, boys have resorted to sleeping on the concrete floor on mats. Food is also in short supply and boys will often head to the street to find food during the day as the centre has little left to provide. As Haiti stabilizes we hope this situation improves.
